Lt. W.H. Barnes

Lt. W. H. Barnes served with No.6 Commando from, at least, 5th June 1944, when he was left in the UK as the Commando’s Rear Party Officer, joining the Commando in Normandy on 18th July 1944, and was detailed to No.5 Troop. 

Serving with No.2 Troop from, at least, March 1945 he was wounded on the morning of 24th March 1945 during a skirmish with counter-attacking German Panzer Grenadiers on the outskirts of Wesel.
