Lt. Gilbert Roy Fazan

Lt. Gilbert Roy Fazan, formerly of the Royal Sussex Regiment, served with No.4 Troop of No. 6 Commando from 21st June 1943 and with No.1 Troop from, at least, 5th June 1944.

Lt. Gilbert Fazan was reported as being Killed in Action (KIA) on 7th June 1944, aged 28 years.

He was the son of Dr. Eric Alfred Charles Fazan and Alise Catherine Fazan, of Wadhurst, Sussex, and was laid to rest in Ranville War Cemetery (Calvados, France).  Grave A.C.A. IIIA.O.3.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘Speed he loved and laughter and the sun. A song wide spaces and the open air.’
