VI COMMANDO

Prt. Leonard Bailey, formerly of the Somerset Light Infantry, served with No.6 Commando.

As a Lance-Corporal, Leonard was Killed In Action (KIA) on 24th January 1945, aged 18 years.

Leonard was the stepson of Mr. R.C. Hiscocks, of Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset. His grave was discovered at the site of an ‘unknown soldier’ in Merum (Netherlands) after the war and he finally was laid to rest in the Mook War Cemetery (Limburg, Netherlands). Grave IV.A.15.
