VI COMMANDO

Harry Drew was a German National whose real (birth) name is Harry Nomburg.  He served as a British Commando with No.3 Troop (often known as X-Troop) of No.10 (IA) Commando, and was attached to No.3 Troop of No.6 Commando from at least 5^th June 1944 until, at least, 24^th February 1945. 

Prior to being attached to No.6 Commando, Harry Drew was attached to No.12 Commando, under Capt. O.B. (“Mickey”) Rooney, and participated in the OPERATION: FORFAR raid on the French coast.

He was reported as wounded by a booby trap at the Bois de Bavent on 4^th August 1944 , in the same incident that had wounded L/Sgt. Harry Hare.
