Prt. Hefren served in No.2 Troop of No.6 Commando.
He was reported as being Killed In Action (KIA) from machine gun
fire
in the water whilst making for the beach in Normandy, 6th June 1944, – although his grave is not recorded by the British War Graves Commission.
