Sigm. Donald Pottas

Sigm. Donald Pottas, formerly of the Royal Corps of Signals and No.2 Commando, served with No.6 Commando from, at least, 5th June 1944.

Sigm. Donald Pottas was reported as being Killed in Action (KIA) on Sword Beach on 6th June 1944, aged 19 years. Donald was the son of John and Marie Anne Pottas of Whitby Yorkshire, and was laid to rest in Hermanville War Cemetery Grave 3.A.14.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘He leaves a white unbroken glory. A gathered radiance. A shining peace.’
