Prt. Eric George McI "Jock" Thomson

Prt. Eric George McI "Jock" Thomson, formerly of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), served with No.3 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, January 1945. Eric was KIA on 24th January 1945 whilst serving in Philip Pritchard’s Section of No.3 Troop during the attack on Montfort (Netherlands), aged 21 years.

He was the son of John Bews Thomson (who was killed in WW1 and of whom Eric used to always wear his father’s silver ring enscribed with the word ‘ Armentieres ’) and Eliza Jane Knowles Thomson, of Mains of Seaton, Angus. Eric was laid to rest in Nederweert War Cemetery ( Limburg , Netherlands ). Grave IV.E.3.
