L/Cpl. Harry Tunstall

L/Cpl. Harry Tunstall, formerly of the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, served with No.1 Troop of 5th Special Services Battalion (No.6 Commando) (later becoming No.101) Troop of No.6 Commando from 1940 (Scarborough).

L/Cpl. Harry Tunstall was drowned in a canoeing accident during an exercise undertaken by No.101 Troop running from Glenfinnan to Loch Shiell on 8th March 1941, aged 28 years. Despite extensive searches his body was never recovered.

Harry was the son of John Thomas Tunstall and Mary Tunstall of Penkhull, Stoke-on-Trent .  He is commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial, Panel 11 Column 3.
