Gnr. "Wicksy" Wicks

Gnr. “Wicksy” Wicks, formerly of the Royal Artillery, served in No.1 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, 26th June 1942. He was a regular on the Commando Boxing Team on which he boxed as a Welter Weight.

It was noted that he was captured in North Africa but had escaped, along with Prt. Walsh, from a Prisoner of War camp in Italy and later returned to the Commando, fighting with them until the end of the war.
