RSM William “Timber” Woodcock, formerly a Sergeant of the South Staffordshire Regiment then a TSM with No.4 Commando before transferring on promotion to become the first RSM of the new Command Basic Training Centre at Achnancarry, served with No.6 Commando from at least 24th June 1943 until, at least, 24th March 1945. He is noted as being present during the attack on Bavent on 8th June 1944 but not necessarily as the RSM of No.6 just that men of No.6 had met him there. |
